Mattedraft accelerates AEC specifications from drawings, with no special formatting.

Mattedraft

Comprehensive project specs directly from your drawing set.

Upload a PDF drawing set. Mattedraft analyzes each sheet and applies relevant ASTM/ANSI standards and building codes and then drafts complete specifications in CSI format. Mattedraft works at any project stage, with no special formatting required.

* Teams report saving hundreds of hours per project.

Built for architects, engineers, and contractors

Automate specification writing to save hundreds of hours per project.

Specs from PDFs

Upload multi-sheet sets, vector or raster. No special formatting needed.

Standards aware

ASTM/ANSI standards and current codes are applied automatically.

Disciplinary understanding

Mattedraft's engine is pre-trained to fundamentally understand complete architectural and consultant sets, associating details, keynotes, and tags referenced across multiple drawings.

Any project stage

Specs update automatically as you upload newer sets, addenda, and revisions.

Passwordless

Email magic‑link sign‑in. No passwords to manage.

Enterprise‑grade

SOC 2–backed storage, AES‑256 at rest, TLS in transit. Zero data sharing.

How it works

  1. 1 Upload a PDF drawing set or a subset of sheets.
  2. 2 Mattedraft’s engine analyzes each sheet in the set, identifying all building components and their applications.
  3. 3 Documents are parsed for cross‑references and assemblies, applicable standards and codes are then applied.
  4. 4 Spec books are generated in CSI format. They can then be downloaded directly or edited.
Outputs align to typical divisions and can be exported per‑discipline or combined.

FAQ

Which codes/standards are supported?

We prioritize ASTM/ANSI and reference common building codes such as IBC/NFPA where applicable. Coverage expands continuously.

Do you require file prep or layering?

No special formatting required. Vector or raster PDFs are fine, including multi-sheet sets and consultant sheets.

How do I sign in?

Secure passwordless sign-in delivered to your inbox. Fewer resets and tickets; enterprise SSO is coming soon.

Can I edit the spec further?

Yes. Use our spec editor to modify clauses, add project notes, and apply redlines. It maintains citations, updates cross-references, and exports to DOCX/PDF.
